Born on September 6, 1949 to the late Bennie L. and Sunnie Coleman Dowdy in Laurens County.

He is survived by three sons: Calvin Dowdy, Jr. of Clinton, SC, Antonio Dowdy of Joanna, SC and Tyrone Gary of Laurens, SC, three daughters: Rachel Wilson , of the home, Gwendolyn Robinson of Clinton, SC, and Veronica Dowdy of Joanna, SC. three brothers: James and Bennie Dowdy, and Mathew Young all of Clinton, SC. thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives.
