Ruth (Hunter) Connor

Mrs. Ruth Hunter Connor, 93, widow of Samuel Henry Connor, Sr., of 104 Second Street, Abbeville, SC., entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Self Regional HealthCare in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Antreville, SC., she was the daughter of the late Alexander Hunter and the late Susie Douglas Hunter.  She was the last of 13 siblings to be born and she was the last to depart this earthly walk of life among her immediate family.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Henry Connor, Jr., and two grandchildren, TeSheka L. Jackson and Corey B. Patterson.

Mrs. Connor was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she was the "Mother of the Church." She was a seamstress and worked in dry cleaning for many years, and she had a  strong passion for birds, they were a comfort to her.

She will best be remembered by her four daughter, Naomi (Pete) Aiken, of Central Islip, NY, Mary (Willie) Marine, Susanne (Clyde) Ebo and Bernice C. Jackson all of Greenwood, SC., Nine grandchildren, Craig (Wendy) Patterson, Darlene Aiken, TeKeya Weston, Chad Patterson, Michael (Tabitha) Aiken, Cassie (Jason) Mathis, Brian (OJ) Jackson, Jevon Weston and Tremayne Marine. Fourteen great-grandchildren; two raised in the home, Devontaye and Kivias Hughey and six great-great grandchildren. A special neice, Ms. Bessie M. Jones of Due West, SC., her spiritual son, Rev. Alvin Green, Sr. of Greenwood, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives to cherish her memories.
