Mrs. Clemmie Boyd Harris was born December 29, 1948 to the late John Wilson, Jr. and the late Mattie Boyd (Earnest) McGowan.
She attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina.
At an early age, Clemmie joined the White Plains Baptist Church in Mountville, South Carolina. She then moved her membership to Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cross Hill, South Carolina. She was a member of the Sunrise Gospel Choir and the Zion Hill Baptist Church Choir. She later joined the New Salem Gospel Choir where she served until her illness.
"Wennie", as she was affectionately known, was employed with the Laurens Dry Cleaners in Laurens, South Carolina until they closed their doors. She then found employment as a custodian at the Laurens District 55 High School in Laurens, South Carolina until her health declined.
She was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed decorating and crafting. She was also a huge fan of Whitney Houston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, L.C. Harris; three sisters, Shirley Boyd Rice, Hazel Boyd Reid, and Mattie Boyd; and four brothers, Willie J. Boyd, Charles Lenburg Boyd, Leroy Boyd, and Charles Boyd, II.
On Saturday, June 15, 2019, Mrs. Harris transitioned to be with the Lord at the age of seventy
She leaves to cherish beautiful and fond loving memories, one son, Darren Harris of Greenville, SC; one niece raised in the home, Tammy (Bernard) Rice of Clinton, SC; six grandchildren, Darren Rashad Harris and Courtney Harris both of Columbia, SC, Jordan Lee of Rock Hill, SC, Quintessa Rice, Devon Rice, and Monae Rice all of Clinton, SC; two brothers, Johnny Boyd and Roy Lee Boyd both of Laurens, SC; one sister, Helen Boyd Williams of Laurens, SC five sisters-in-law, Daisy Boyd, Harris (Greg) Smith, Diane Bolden, Cathy Harris, and Rosa Harris all of Laurens, SC; a very devoted nephew, Jamie (James) Reid-Suber of Lakeland, FL; two special nieces, Lisa Williams and Catherine Fielder both of Laurens, SC; a special cousin, Anna Byrd; two special friends, Linda Golden and Lillie Bell Jones both of Laurens, SC; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
