Mary "Polly" Goodman

Mary "Polly" Goodman of Clinton, SC, quietly departed this life on February 6, 2018 at the National Healthcare in Clinton, SC. She was born April 18, 1923 to the late Jessie Young and the late Lydia Rice Davis Young.

She was educated in the Clinton Public Schools, and worked in Laurens County School District, Bailey School and Eastside Elementary School as a teacher's assistant, serving as a grandparent to the special needs children for many years.  She had a genuine compassion for the children.

She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and served faithfully until her health declined.  During her quiet times she enjoyed doing cross word puzzles and reading God's Word. She had faith in God and believed that all things are possible if ye believe.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a host of cousins, nephews and nieces; Kevin Clinton of Rialto, CA, Brenda Clinton Johnson of Los Alamitos, CA, Willa Clinton Joynes of Philadelphia, PA, Sharon Clinton of Long Beach, CA, and many others.

She was blessed with such wonderful friends as Ruby Mull, Margaret Carter, Janice Meeks, Jan Alexander, and James Cheeks.

Special thanks to her caregivers for many years, Ralph & Andrea Martin, Larry Martin, Anne Laura Foggie, and many others that showed so much love. Thanks to Self Medical Center  & staff of Laurens, and to Community Long Term Care, NHC Healthcare of Clinton, and Caris Healthcare of Greenwood, SC.

She was preceded in death by: her brother, Andrew Davis; one sister, Leda Rosalee Davis; a beautiful niece Doris R. Clinton of Long Beach, CA; and a cousin reared in the home, Annie Mae Martin.
