Today we celebrate and remember the honorable life and legacy of Mrs. Melissa Raqua Davis-Gary, better known as "Missy".
Missy was born on May 15, 1974, to Mary (James) Moses and Willie (Jackie) Hill Jr., and she was raised in the home of Henry Chalmers and the late Katherine Chalmers.
Lead by her mother, Missy was introduced to Christ and baptized in the name of Jesus at a young age. She accepted Christ as her personal savior under the leadership of Bishop M. D. Jackson.
Missy lived a beautiful life. She was devoted to Jesus and no matter the circumstances she exemplified unwavering Faith. She praised God in the midst of every storm. As a dedicated and faithful member of Calvary Temple Ministries in Laurens, SC, she diligently served as the leader of the usher's ministry, as a member of the finance committee, and coordinator of the pastor's appreciation.
Missy was a graduate of Clinton High School and Charzanne Beauty College. She was employed at Asten Johnson for many years where she was an inspiration to others.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Daisy Scurry, Marie Moses, Willie Hill, Sr., Clyde Davis, Wade Scurry, and aunt Katherine Chalmers.
Those who remain to grow from being loved by her are her soulmate and husband of 20 years, John Wesley Gary, Jr., four handsome sons; Quentavious "Trez" Gary, Tyrece Gary, Caleb Gary all of Clinton, SC and PFC Treyvious "Trey" Gary stationed in Camp Casey, South Korea, one grandson, Amir Sanders of Mountville, SC. Missy was also survived by two grandmothers; Sarah Davis of Newberry, SC and Elizabeth Hill of Cross, SC. Missy also leaves memories to cherish with her siblings; Shernequa Moses, Ta'Shaffa Davis, Adrienne (Dewayne) Belton, Audrey Anderson, Whitney Hill, Marquida Boyd, Bert Anderson, Maurice Anderson, and Andre Anderson. A caring Aunt Bobbie Scurry, a devoted gest friend Tarsha Grant, and a loving god-daughter, Tierra Todd.
Her love and wisdom have impacted the lives of her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; a host of extended family, along with many, many friends.
