Mr. Arthur David McBeth was born April 12, 1947, in Cross Anchor, South Carolina to the late James McBeth, Sr. and Eunice Thompson McBeth.
At an early age, he joined New Prospect Baptist Church in Enoree, South Carolina.
Arthur, affectionately known as "Pete", attended the public schools of Union County, South Carolina, where he was a graduate of the Sims High Class of 1965.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He worked as a communication specialist while on tour in Munich, Germany. After serving his military commitments, Pete was honorably discharged as Staff SGT E-6.
After serving three years in the Army, Pete then attended the South Carolina National Guard Non-Commissioned Officer Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. Upon graduating the academy, he served in the South Carolina National Guard for twenty-nine years. During his years of service, he served two tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Bosnia.
Arthur was also employed in several positions by Greenwood Mills in Joanna, South Carolina, The Muller Company, as well as Asten Johnson in Clinton, South Carolina.
Pete held memberships of several groups in the Laurens County Community. He was a member of the Veterns Group of Laurens, South Carolina, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5932 of Clinton, South Carolina, and lastly, he was a proud member of the Freemason Brotherhood in the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Piedmont District 3 - Union Lodge #1 of Clinton, South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: James McBeth, Jr. and David McBeth; and one sister, Rosa Mae McBeth.
On the brisk Sunday morning of November 26, 2023, Mr. Arthur "Pete" McBeth peacefully departed this life at St Francis Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina going from labor to reward after being blessed with seventy-six blissful years of life.
He leaves to cherish his fond loving memories and to honor his legacy; his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara McBeth; four children: Paula Poole Means of Woodruff, SC, Darren (Wendy) Glasgow-McBeth of the home, Stephen (Sharon) McBeth of Greenville, SC, and Shonta (Theo) Imbufe of Fayetteville, NC; eleven grandchildren; Marlana (Jamie) Jones, Nichole Poole, Terrance Poole, Marquidris (Koronda) Harris, J'Quella Harris, Tylisa McBeth, Seven McBeth, Stephen McBeth Jr., An'Ton McBeth, Abigail Imbufe, and the youngest Ariel Imbufe; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; four brothers: Willie (Mamie) McBeth of Laurens, SC, Reginald (Carol) McBeth of Union, SC, Robert Rookard and Bobby Rookard both of Spartanburg, SC; a god-brother, Ricky Gary of Clinton, SC; two sisters: Janet McBeth and Vanessa Rookard both of Spartanburg, SC; one uncle, J.C. McBeth of Sacramento, CA; a very special cousin, Virginia "Toot" Sanders of Fostoria, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
