Mrs. Barbara Ann McGowan was born February 25, 1956, in Newberry County, South Carolina, to the late Willie James and Bennie Mae Williams Longshore.
At an early age, she joined St. Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells, South Carolina. She later attended Dunham Temple CME Church in Greenwood, South Carolina until her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McGowen; one brother, Sammie Longshore; two nephews: Anthony Stephens and Cornelius Chamberlain; and one niece, Starkezian Farrow.
Mrs. McGowan entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Self Regional Healthcare Hospital in Greenwood, South Carolina, at the age of sixty-eight.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her sons, Richard (Dekeela) Longshore, Detric McGowan, both of Greenwood, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; her brother, Benjamin (Nina) Longshore; her six sisters; Maggie Wardlaw, Betty Hill, Dorothy Hill, Jacqueline Thompson, all of Greenwood, South Carolina, Bertha Brown of Chappells, South Carolina, Vivian Longshore of Thomasville, Georgia; godson, Tim Witt, one brother-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
