Mrs. Bernice Pitts Grant was born August 26, 1946, in the city of Cross Hill, South Carolina in Laurens County to the late Arcie (Rossie) Kinley and Lee Theodore.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells, South Carolina.
Bernice was educated in the public school of Laurens County, South Carolina where she attended Bell Street High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Grant Jr., maternal grandparents: Jones Pitts and Lucy Curenton Pitts; one sister, Gennie Glenn; and one brother, Ralph Theodore.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, at Laurens County Hospital in Clinton, South Carolina, Bernice Pitts Grant quietly answered the call of God's guardian angel and entered eternal rest. Like the words written in II Timothy, Bernice was ready, her course complete and her faith firmly kept.
She leaves to cherish her treasured memories one son, Bruce Grant; two daughters Barbara Suber and Joye A. Grant; four grandchildren: Christopher Grant, Rahson Grant, Malaysia Suber, and Freedom Grant; four great grandchildren: Amari Grant, Belarosa Grant, A'shon Grant, and Emma Gran; seven sisters: Joyce (Odell) Hill, Lucy Kennedy, Judith Kennedy, Sherry (Stanley) Rivers, Johnnie Mae (Joseph) Griffin, Willie Taylor, and Patsy Pitts; one godbrother, Zackary Mackey; son-in-love, Dorsey Dendy; a special niece, Noel Mackay; best friend, Lydia Calwise; special friend, Denise Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
