Mr. Charlie Reese Austin was born May 3, 1948 in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late to Johnny Austin and Frances Moronie Austin.
He was a member of the Seeds of Life Apostolic Ministry of Laurens, south Carolina. He attended the public schools of Laurens County and was a graduate of Sanders High School. He furthered his education at Piedmont Technical College and earned a two year degree in Construction Management.
After college, Charlie joined the United States Army and served some years on Active duty, then transitioned to the National Guard where he served faithfully for twenty years. He served those twenty years in Company A 151 Signal Battalion of the South Carolina reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning numerous awards including: the Parachute Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter M- 14 Badge. He was also a former Commander of VFW Post 5932 in Clinton, South Carolina.
He was formerly employed as a Brick Mason with Sons of Lewis Masonry, LLC of Laurens, South Carolina.
On Friday, March 17, 2023, Mr. Charlie Reese Austin answered the Master's call and entered Eternal rest at his home in Clinton, South Carolina at the age of seventy-four.
Left behind to cherish his fond memories are his dear and devoted wife of forty-nine years, Marilyn T. Austin of the home; one son, Avery C. Austin of the home; three daughters: Adrienne S. Williams of Joanna, SC, Angela (Steve Sr.) Coleman, and Andria (Scott) Rennie both of Clinton, SC; three brothers: Jimmy (Johnnie) Austin of Charleston, SC, Calvin (Julia) Austin of Clinton, SC, and Gary Austin of Laurens, SC; one sister, Johnnie (William) Boafo of Rochester, NY; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a special cousin, Clemmie Clark of Laurens, SC; two sisters-in-law: Sarah Taylor of Clinton, SC and Mary Polly Taylor of Virginia Beach VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
