Clarence Thacker Jr.

Reverend Clarence Thacker Jr. was born August 3, 1937, in Newberry County, South Carolina, to the late Clarence Thacker Sr., and Ora Frances Robinson Thacker.

He was educated in the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina graduating from Bell Street High School in Clinton, South Carolina. He furthered his education at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina and later served in the United States Army.

Reverend Clarence was a member of Bush River Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina.

After many years of employment, he retired from Josten's Cap and Gowns of Laurens, South Carolina.

Reverend Thacker loved the Lord, as well as preaching and reading God's Word. He also had tremendous love for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Temple Thacker and his brother, Johnnie James Thacker.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Reverend Clarence Thacker, Jr. entered into eternal rest at Laurens Memorial Home for the Aged in Laurens, South Carolina, at the age of eighty-eight.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his son, Clarence Ishmael (Candie) Thacker, one grandchild, Shy'Teria Perry; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
