Mrs. Daisy Carolyn Barksdale was born August 30, 1939 in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late James Burnside Sr. and Willie Mae Floyd Burnside.
She attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina and was a graduate of Bell Street High School where she was the valedictorian of her senior class.
Daisy was a member of Friendship African Methodist Episcopal Church in Clinton, South Carolina where she loved singing in the choir. She had a love for gospel music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ even until a few short weeks prior to her passing.
After many years of employment, she retired from Torrington Bearing Plant in Clinton, South Carolina as a machine operator and spent her time after retirement raising her granddaughter. Family was everything to her.
In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by one daughter, Yvette Denise Barksdale; one son, Brynildson Barksdale, Jr.; a niece reared in the home, Gail Simon; three brothers: Lewis Burnside, Jr., James Burnside, and Willie Arthur Burnside; six sisters: Emma Burnside Willis, Nettie Burnside Bedon, Nannie Burnside Hardin, Mattie Burnside Wilson, Margaret Simon Burnside, and JoAnn Burnside Owens.
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at her home in Clinton, South Carolina, the precious spirit of Mrs. Daisy Carolyn Barksdale passed from Earth to Eternity to enter Eternal Rest at the graceful age of eighty-four.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories three children: Andrea Z. Barksdale of Clinton, South Carolina, Norman F. (Monika) Barksdale of Mountville, South Carolina, and ; Mitzi Barksdale (Kevin) Bryant of Greenville, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Bryan David Barksdale of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Chasity Ramos of Greenville, South Carolina, Stephanie (Chase) Holmes of Duncan, South Carolina, Jennifer Barksdale of Mountville, South Carolina, Kristina Bryant of Miami, Florida, and Kevin "KJ" Bryant Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina; three great grandchildren: Nataylja Styles, Amillion Styles, and Harper Ruth Holmes all of Duncan, South Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews and of those are two nieces who were reared in the home: Cassandra Simon (Alfonzo) Jordan of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Carolyn Simon of Atlanta, Georgia, and great niece Elizabeth Davis of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters: Mary Burnside (Willlie) Jenkins, Jackie Burnside Leacraft, and Joyce Burnside (Carl Sr.) Payne; her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Burnside; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Daisy's memory will forever live in our hearts. We were all blessed to have her in our lives.
