In the Lord's appointed time, the journey of life for David Earl "Spook" Dillard was ended on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. The concluding chapter of his journey is now recorded in the Book of Life, and gently placed the shelf of eternity in the Holy City.
David was born on December 29, 1947 in Clinton, South Carolina to the late Johnnie and Inez Watson Dillard. He graduated from Bell Street High School, Class of 1966, where he was an outstanding football and basketball player.
He was a devoted and faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, Hebron All Male Choir, the W.D. Coker Choraleers, and the Rose of Bethlehem Consolation Lodge No. 433. He was employed for over thirty years at Torrington Ball Bearing Plant in Clinton, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Ruth Little and Sara Frances Dillard.
He leaves to cherish his heartfelt wife of forty-six years, Mattie F. Dillard of the home; one son, David F. Dillard of Spartanburg, SC; one granddaughter, D'Miya Shanice Dillard (his heartbeat); one sister, Brenda Dillard of Clinton, SC; mother-in-law, Mattie B. Fuller, two brothers-in-law, James (Kathy) Fuller of Columbia, SC and Manuel Darby of Clinton. SC; one aunt, Ella Mae Murphy, one niece, six nephews, a host of cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends all of whom join with the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoicing in his home going.
