Della Thomas Obituary

Mrs. Della Fannie Thomas was born in Union County on October 27, 1949, to the late Joe Sims and Della Fannie Dawkins Sims. At fourteen pounds, she was born into a family of eleven siblings- six boys and six girls.

At the age of ten, Della relocated to Buffalo, New York with her aunt, the late Janie Dawkins-Henderson who raised her throughout her school years. She graduated from East High School, in Buffalo, New York where she met the love of her life, Fred Lee Thomas, Jr.

Fred and Della later married and had five children, three boys and two girls: Fred Lee III, Aaron, Sidney, Rosalynn, who passed shortly after birth, and Toni.

After furthering her education and receiving an Associate's Degree, Della was a Buffalo Public Preschool Teacher for thirty years. After raising their children and grandchildren, Della and Fred decided to relocate to Conyers, Georgia in 2008.

Della was a great cook and loved to bake and try new recipes. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading thriller and suspense novels. She also loved crossword puzzles and watching murder mysteries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalynn Della Thomas; five brothers; Alexander Sims, Buck Sims, Joseph Sims Jr., Elbert W. Sims and Hiram Sims: five sisters: Lydia Sims, Australia (Chick) Sims, Willie Lee Sims, Sadie Bessie Sims, and Virginia Wilson.

On Thursday, October 03, 2024, Mrs. Della Fannie Thomas entered into Eternal Rest at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital in Conyers, Georgia at the age of seventy-four.

She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her beloved husband, Fred Lee Thomas, Jr.; three sons: Fred Lee (Blanche) Thomas III, Aaron Locy (Yolanda) Thomas, and Sidney Emery (Juanitra) Thomas; her daughter, Toni Robyn (Marquel) Thomas; eight grandchildren: Janel Thomas, Domonique Thomas, Fred Lee Thomas IV, Kardan Agosto, Alanis Agosto, Arielle Turner, Aron Thomas Jr, and Kanai Reid; four great grandchildren; one brother, Eugean (Corrine) Sims; two godchildren: Layla Pressley and Ryanell T. Fuqua; two god grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
