Dewayne Eddie Leake

Mr. Dewayne Eddie "Grip" Leake, 57, of Cross Hill, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 20, 2026. He was born September 8, 1968, in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late Eddie Leake Jr., and Marilyn Curenton Leake. 

At an early age, he joined St. Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells, South Carolina. He was a former employee of Walmart Store #1382. Mr. Leake was "Cross Hill very 1st uber Driver" and he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, family, and friends.

On April 6, 1991, Dewayne married the love of his life, Debra Williams Leake. This year they celebrated 35 years of matrimony and to this union they had two beautiful daughters, Tyneasha Leake of the home and Tamara Leake of Greenville, South Carolina.

Cherishing his precious memories are his wife, his daughters, two brothers: Eric A. Leake and Knikia (Alexis) Copeland; sister, Detra (Walter) Jackson; six granddaughters: Albreigh, Ava, Ariyanna. Alana, Addisyn, and Angel: sisters-in-law: Sheena (Tirrell) Dendy and Gail Williams; brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Williams; five aunts: Patricia (Robert) Cunningham, Dorothy (Tommy) Richard, Helen Grayson, Wistar D. Hill and Johnny Mae Curenton; two uncles: Sammie Leake and Edward (Sarah) Curenton: fathers-in-law: Albert Dawkins of the home and Bobby Joe Williams, Sr.: nephew, Demorius Leake and niece, Shaquanza (Jarrett) Griffin; who grew up in the home; four nieces and four nephews and Godbrothers, Charles Fuller, Jr., Nathaniel Lindsay: God son, Zhane AikenBonus sons: Stanley Simpkins, and Charlie Chambers Jr., first cousins whom he loved and considered as brothers and sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
