Mr. George Williams was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on November 04, 1925, to George Williams and Rachel Sims Williams. he was the eldest of three children born during their union.
He was a faithful member of Mount Harmon Baptist Church in Troy, South Carolina.
George attended the public schools of Greenwood, South Carolina after which he joined the United States Navy. After fifteen years of dedicated service and a tour of duty during World War II, he left the Navy. He then gained employment with George L. Davis as a mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Williams; two daughters: Josie Lee Williams Wideman and Bernice Williams; one stepdaughter, Juanita Meadows; three brothers: Thomas Williams, George Williams, and Eddie Williams; three sisters: Jessie Mae Williams, Annie Burton, and Martha Owens; and one nephew, Howard Moore.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the angel of mercy visited the Williams family granting Mr. George Williams everlasting peace and rest with the Lord at the age of ninety-six.
Mr. Williams leaves to cherish his many memories fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; one special niece, Shirley Ann Murray; one special nephew, Mark Moore; a dear friend and caretaker, Reggie White of Greenwood, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a man who was sweet as well as honest and he would give his last to you. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
