James Arthur Cheeks was born on June 26, 1945 to the late Ida Mae Cheeks. He departed this life on August 18, 2019 at Prisma Health in Clinton, SC. He attended the local schools and joined himself with the Antioch AME Church in Clinton, SC at an early age. He worked in construction for many years and retired from Simmons & Weir in Clinton, SC.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ida Mae Cheeks, Two sisters; Levina Cheeks and Dorothy Briggs, Two brothers, Irvin Duberry and David Cheeks.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories; One brother; Bobby Cheeks of Clinton, SC; Two dedicated nieces, Evangelist Cynthia (Sammie) Rainey, of Greenville, SC., and Rachel (James) Franks, of Clinton, SC., Two other nieces, Levina (Warfield) Newman, of Clinton, Md. Lena (Timothy) Davis of Enoree, SC., Six nephews, MacArthur Duberry of Yelm, Wa., Michael Cheeks of Duluth, Ga., Thomas Cheeks, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., David (Chayla) Cheeks of Lawrenceville, Ga., Anthony Cheeks of Clinton, SC., and Bryant (Daphne) Cheeks of Columbia, SC., One brother-in-law, Thomas Cheeks, Sr. of Laurens, SC, Twenty great nieces, five great nephews, seven great-great nieces, and ten great-great nephews. A host of other relatives and friends.
