Deacon James Cunningham was born on November 20, 1944, in Laurens County, South Carolina. He was the eghth child born to the late Phillip Cunningham and Lenora Valentine Cunningham.
He attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina.
James was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Waterloo, South Carolina where he served faithfully as a deacon.
He retired, after years of employment, from Clinton Mills, Whitten Center, as well as Senior Options.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Ella Miller Cunningham; and his siblings; William Cunningham, Ethel Mae Cunningham, and Martha Ree Cunningham.
On Saturday, February 03, 2024, at Hospice of Laurens County in Clinton, South Carolina, God walked through His garden and plucked one of His most beautiful flowers when He called our dearly beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Deacon James Cunningham, home to be with Him throughout Eternity at the age of seventy-nine.
He leaves to cherish his memories to three sons, James Cunningham, Chambersburg, PA, John (Vanessa) Cunningham, Memphis, TN, and Dennis (Chris) Miller of Laurens, SC; one daughter, Sallie Miller of Laurens, SC; four brothers: Sammy (Flossie) Cunningham, Walter (Viola) Cunningham, Willie C. (Virginia) Cunningham, and Robert (Patricia) Cunningham; one sister, John Ella (William) Makins; three sisters in law: Emma Jean (Ulysses) Latimore, Mary (Clarence) Latimore, and Irene Miller of Laurens, SC; three brothers in law; Calvin (Mary Alice) Miller, Sammie Miller of Laurens, SC, and Robert (Cynthia) Miller of Clinton, SC; ten ;grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Frances Latimore of Waterloo, SC. He was a fondly loved by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
