James DuBose Jr. Obituary

Dr. James Benjamin DuBose, Jr. was born on April 03, 1939, in Brooklyn, Alabama to the late James Benjamin DuBose, Sr. and Dorothy Smith DuBose.

In 1957, he graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi. He received the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi in 1971. He was an honor graduate of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary earning a Master of Divinity degree in 1973 and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1976.

Among his many honors, Dr. DuBose was an Eagle Scout and was awarded the Good Shephard award from the Boy Scouts of America. He served three years as a national alumni officer as well as the office of National Alumni President in 1983 - 1984.

Along with his service to churches in Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, and Georgia, he also served as a Director of Missions in Laurens, South Carolina and Stone Mountain, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: James Benjamin DuBose, III and Willard Dorsh DuBose.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, Dr. James Benjamin DuBose Jr. departed this life in Waterloo, South Carolina and entered Eternal Rest at the age of eighty-four.

He leaves his precious memories to be cherished by his wife of sixty-three years, Thyerria Marcel DuBose; a son, Anthony Allen DuBose; a host of grandchildren; a sister, Cathern Soto of Phoenix, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
