We come today to share in the celebration of life for James "Putsey" Philson. He was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on September 06, 1937 to the late Hall Philson and Lorene Blakely Philson.
He was a former member of Hebron Baptist Church. He was educated in the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina.
After years of employment, he retired from St. Joe Paper Company also in Laurens County, South Carolina. He was a jack of all trades including the family mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Yancy Gregory Williams Jr.; four brothers; Hubie Lee Philson, Edger Hall Philson Jr., Jesse Roy Philson, and Woodrow Philson; and one sister, Janie Maude Mills.
On Tuesday, November 05, 2024, Mr. James "Putsey" Philson departed this life at his home in Laurens County, South Carolina and entered Eternal Rest at the age of eighty-seven.
Left to cherish his dearest loving memories are his six sons: Bernard Anderson, Gerald (Teola) Anderson, Leon( Melissa) Anderson, Calvin Thompson, Adam Jenkins, and Dishi Putman; two daughters: Bonita (Andrew) Gray and Cherlyn (Brian) Pitts; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; tree great great grandchildren; two brothers, R.D.(Sharon) Philson and Harvey Philson; three sisters; Reverend Evelyn Davis, Reverend Carolyn (James) Gibbs; and Annie Pearl Ballenger; two special nieces Allegra Mills and La'Halla Garrett; a special nephew and best friend, Sato Gibbs; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
