Mr. James Walfred Thacker was born Saturday, April 7, 1962, in Clinton, South Carolina to Johnnie Thacker and Nancy Wyatt Thacker.
At an early age, he became a member of Friendship African Methodist Episcopal Church of Clinton, South Carolina.
He attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina where he was a graduate of the Clinton High School Class of 1981.
James was employed at Buncombe Street Methodist Church as a maintenance technician. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #526.
He was a veteran who served four years in the United States Army. After leaving the military, his hobbies included cooking, doing handyman tasks for local church groups and other organizations, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Eleridge Wyatt formerly of Clinton, South Carolina.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025 while residing in White Oak Manor nursing home in Newberry, South Carolina, Mr. James Walfred Thacker departed this life at the age of sixty-three.
He is survived by his wife, Samantha Thacker; three stepchildren; Jamarcus Cook, Jessica Bell, and Alexis Cook; six grandchildren; three brothers: Roul Thacker of Clinton, SC, Robert Chauncey Thacker of Piedmont, SC, and Travis Roberson of Tampa, FL; his sister, Pamela (Robert) Harris of Laurens, SC; a long time friend, Tony Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
