On Wednesday, March 18,2026, the Almighty Creator, in His infinite wisdom, called to be in his presence, our father, John C. Vera, Jr., born May 6, 1944, to the late John C. Vera Sr. and Gertrude Vera in Camden,New Jersey. John attended Camden High School where he was involved in a variety of extracurricular activities specifically varsity football and wrestling. To continue his educational journey, he attended Syracuse University. Later he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps with many outstanding accolades. Through persistence and faithful service, John rose into leadership. By the mid-1990s he became a Field Representative for Local 415 and later served as Secretary Treasure for many years. In those roles, he worked tirelessly to make condition better for the members. He pushed for fairness. He pushed for opportunity. He pushed for progress. John retired with 30 years of dedicated service.
His life was forever changed when he fell in love with Cynthia. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. He was an exceptional provider throughout the years to his children Tonya, John, and Andrea. He was an intelligent, hardworking, and transformative leader who revolutionized every room he entered. His legacy inspires many and his impact has left an indelible mark on this world.
He was predeceased by his parents, John C. Vera, Sr., Gertrude Vera - Bradley, Quinton Benton “QB” Bradley, his son-in-law, James Kirtz, Sr., and sisters-in law, Fredricka “Terry” Bradley and Sheila “Renee” Bradley.
He is greatly loved and will forever be missed by his wife, Cynthia Vera; three children, Tonya Kirtz, John C. Vera III (Stefanie), and Andrea Vera (Pete); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carlos R, Vera, Sr. (Lenore) and Ira Bradley, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. John also leaves a friendship of lasting love with his extended family, Walter Hill, Betty Rouse, Peggy Foster, Brenda Jackson, and Richmond Jr.
Thank God for his special friends, Barbara Taylor and Reverend Carl and Denise Styles. John Vera was a person that always extended a helping hand to mankind. He overlooked race, creed, and color. He stepped in to lift up a person in need. God Bless.
