Mr. Johnnie Lee Simpson Sr., was born in Newberry County, South Carolina on October 5, 1939 to Edd Simpson and Chicora Dandy Simpson.
He attended Bell Street School in Clinton, South Carolina.
Johnnie was a member of St. Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells, South Carolina.
He began his career as a sharecropper before transitioning to a Supervisor role at Barcraft Mobile Homes in Clinton, South Carolina where he gained valuable experience in the early years of his professional journey. Subsequently, he worked at Joanna Mills in Clinton and took on various odd jobs, reflecting his strong work ethic, adaptability, and dedication throughout his career.
Johnnie, affectionately known as "Boat", had a love for hanging out with his family and of course- finessing the ladies!
Mr. Johnnie Lee Simpson, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Hospice of Laurens County in Clinton, South Carolina at the age of eighty-five.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his two sons: Dr. Johnnie Lee (Lynn) Simpson Jr. and John R. Simpson; four daughters: Sherry (Rufus) Rice, Patricia Barr, Lavonne Holloway, and Bertha (Willie) Kinard; four brothers, Jacob (Rosile) Simpson, Donald (Ernestine) Simpson, James (Patricia) Simpson, Bobby (Brenda) Simpson; four sisters: Lelia Mae (Thomas) Anderson, Louise Simpson, Betty Robinson, and Linda Sanders; his grandson, DeCarlo T.L. (Raven M) Simpson; his great grandson, Christian Simpson; his great granddaughter, Nyla Simpson; a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
