Mr. Johnny Lee Shelton was born on May 16, 1954, in Clinton South Carolina, to the late Geneva S. Shelton and Jobi Shelton, Sr.
He attended the Laurens County Schools and was a member of Poplar Spring AME Church.
Johnny retired from W.R. Grace after many years of hard work and dedication.
Outside of work, "Hook" as he was called by those who knew and loved him, found great joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time in the beauty of God's creation. He was known for his easy smile, his love for the outdoors, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irish Michael Shelton.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Dorothy Shelton; his children: Karen Williams of Piedmont, SC, Sharon (Timothy) Shell of Simpsonville, SC, and McKenzie Shelton of the home; seven grandchildren: Akeem Shelton and Adaijah Simpson of Piedmont, SC, Jaylen Shell, Iyonna Shell, Briana Shell, Braylan Shell, and Brayla Shell all of Simpsonville, SC; one great-grandson, Amir Simpson; his siblings: Joseph (Beverly) Shelton of Roebuck, SC Cynthia Douglas of Clinton, SC and Vickie Oglesby of Spartanburg, SC; one sister-in-law, Brenda Shelton of Ninety Six, SC: and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Johnny's greatest joy was his family. He poured love into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and his legacy will live on through them for generations to come.
