Mrs. Josephine Dillard Gary was born on June 28, 1935, in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late Nathaniel Dillard and Essie Watson Dillard.
She attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina where she graduated in the Bell Street High School, Class of 1956.
At an early age, Josephine joined Bethlehem Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young Ladies Auxiliary Choir.
After years of employment, she retired from Whitten Center in Clinton, South Carolina as a caregiver.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gary was preceded in death by her husband, Mardell Gary; five siblings: Clarence Dillard, Sr., Ossie Lee Rice, Cora Mamie Price, Jessie Louise Davis, and Douglas MacArthur Williams; and one niece, Gaynelle Dillard.
On Saturday, December 31, 2022, Mrs. Josephine Dillard Gary was received into eternity at National Healthcare of Clinton in Clinton, South Carolina at the age of eighty-seven.
She leaves to cherish fond memories two aunts, Ella Mae Murphy and Mattie McCracklin; eight nieces: Ernestine Simpson, Valerie Anderson, Joyce Leake, Dianna Payne, Latoya Davis, Lakesia Dorsey, Patricia Gary, and Laverne Goggins; nine nephews: Ernest Price, James Earl Price, Ulysses Gary, Clarence Dillard, Jr., Reginald Williams, Omar Davis, Douglas Williams, Timothy Williams, and Gerrick Williams; two special cousins: Annie Laura Walker and Mamie Price; two sisters-in-law, Ygenia Gary and Marye Rose; and a host of other relatives and many friends who will miss her dearly.
