Ms. Lahomia “Lay-Lay” Mims was born on December 21, 1967, to the late Willie Calvin Mims Sr. and the late Melvin Reeder-Mims. She was lovingly raised by the late Lewis Junior Simpson and the late Effie Reeder-Simpson.
Throughout her life, Lahomia worked in several roles, including at National Health Care, Aaron Industries, Fukuko, and as a transporter.
Lahomia was a loving, caring, and selfless woman whose warmth touched everyone blessed to know her. She had a special gift for making others feel seen, heard, valued, and deeply loved. Whether through encouraging words, a comforting smile, or simply being present when someone needed her most, she left an unforgettable mark on countless lives.
A devoted supporter of her family, Lahomia never missed an opportunity to celebrate those she loved and to remind them of how proud of them she was. Her heart for helping others was unmatched, as she freely gave love, support, and encouragement—even while carrying burdens of her own.
Her radiant smile could brighten any room, and her presence brought laughter, comfort, and joy to all around her. Her family will forever cherish her beloved saying, “I LOVE ALL MINES,” a phrase that perfectly reflected the deep and unwavering love she held for each of them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Willie Calvin Mims Jr., John Henry Reeder, and Raymond Reid; one sister Lillie Pearl Williams and one brother- in -law Alvin J. Burns.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Ms. Lahomia Mims transitioned from labor to reward at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Akenivas (Charniticia Hollaway) Dendy of Gray Court, Trandon (Janice Dominguez) Dendy of Fountain Inn and one daughter Audreanna Dendy of Greenville. Five grandchildren: Kaleb Gilchrist, Trandon Kais Dendy, Knevaeh Dendy, Aureanna Dendy, and Alaylah Dendy. Three brothers; Stanley(Mary)Reeder and Charles Simpson of Clinton, and Donald Keith Mims of Greenville. Ten sisters: Ojetta Moze and Brenda Dewalt of Newberry; Deborah Mims-Burns, Dianne Simpson, her twin Leomia(James) Butler, Lisa Simpson, Donna (Voyd) Fincher, Regina Mims and Andrea Simpson of Clinton, Cheryl Simpson of Columbia SC and one Goddaughter Meeka Kinard.
She was also blessed with her extended family of nine uncles, Joe L. Toland, James (Bessie Mae) Reeder, Otis (Linda) Langford and Alvin Smith, Gregory (Doris) Langford, Ronald (Rose) Langford, Jacob (Rosilee) Simpson, Donald (Ernestine) Simpson and James (Patricia) Simpson. Thirteen aunts; Bessie Campbell, Carrie Long, Mary Nell Reeder, Janice (Larry) Wilson, Lula Ree Crawford and Daisy Mae (Harold) Smoot, Bengelene Sutton, Barbara Riley, Geneva Reeder, Linda Sanders, Lela Mae (Thomas) Anderson, Betty Robinson and Louise Simpson. Two sisters-in-law: Wister Denise Hill-Mims and Mattie Dominick as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
