Mr. Lewis Junior Simpson was born to the late Edd Simpson and Chicora Dandy Simpson on April 12, 1941, in Newberry County, South Carolina, South Carolina.
He attended the public schools of Laurens County and was a graduate of Bell Street High School Class in Clinton, South Carolina. He furthered his education at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, South Carolina earning a degree in Interior and Exterior Design.
He was a member of St. Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells, South Carolina. He also served faithfully as a Hejaz Shriner and a member of the Little River Zion Masonic Lodge No. 526.
Lewis was employed in many different ventures throughout his lifetime including Lawson Furniture, Star Furniture, Joanna Mills, Greenwood Mills, Clinton Mills, and Parker Furniture. He was also self employed as a carpenter.
For Eighty-three years, Lewis Junior Simpson dedicated his life to God, his family and helping the community around him. Lewis was a man of selflessness, discipline and distinction.
There was never a dull moment to be had around Lewis. He was full of life, jokes and plenty of laughter.
Lewis was also a man of many talents. He took interests in things such as gardening, carpentry, and even fishing. Lewis was a very family-oriented man who inspired his family for generations and generations. Lewis made sure to instill respect, dignity and resilience and wisdom into his children, grandchildren and even friends of the community. There was never a time that Lewis encountered a stranger for he welcomed everyone into his life with open arms.
Through all the challenges that Lewis and his family faced, his faith in God never wavered. One of his favorite saying was "Trust in the Lord and everything else will be alright". Lewis ensured that everyone around him kept faith aas well as moral intact for he felt these were two of the main things that ensured success.
Lewis was a man of his own mold and wore shoes that would be hard for the average man to fill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Reeder Simpson; two sons; John Henry Reeder and Willie Calvin Mims; one daughter, Lillie Pearl Williams; one brother, Calvin Levester Simpson; one sister, Hattie Bell Miller; one son-in-law, Alvin J. Burns; one brother-in-law, Nathaniel Robinson.
On Tuesday, July 02, 2024, Mr. Lewis Junior Simpson transitioned from labor to reward at his home in Clinton, South Carolina at the graceful ager of eighty-three.
He leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Stanley (Mary) Reeder, Charles Simpson, Donald Keith Mims, Raymond (Azalee) Reid; his nine daughters, Cheryl Simpson, Dianne Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Andrea Simpson, Deborah Burns, Lahomia Ekeh, Leomia (James) Butler, Donna Kay (Voyd) Fincher, Regina Mims; five brothers, Johnny Simpson, Jacob (Rosa Lee) Simpson, Donald (Ernestine) Simpson, James (Patricia) Simpson, Bobby (Brenda) Simpson; four sisters, Linda Sanders, Lela Mae (Thomas) Anderson, Betty Robinson, Louise Simpson; six grandchildren reared in the home: LaTonya Simpson, NaTasha Mims, Charity Mims, Jalisa Cunningham, Anson Cunningham, and Branderous Simpson; 46 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; 3 godchildren: Angela Young, Waylon Monaya Barr-Hobbs, and Vanity Cateria Barr- Little.
He is also blessed with his extended family of six brothers-in-law: Joe L Toland, James (Bessie Mae) Reeder, Alvin Smith, Otis (Linda) Langford, Gregory (Doris) Langford, and Ronald (Rose) Langford; eight sisters-in-law: Carrie Long, Mary Nell Reeder, Janice (Larry) Wilson, Lula Ree Crawford, Daisy Mae (Harold) Smoot, Benegelene Sutton, Barbara Riley,
and Geneva Reeder; daughter-in-law, Wister Mims; a devoted friend, Ida Mae Price; caregiver, Sharon Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
