Lillie Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Lillie Payne Johnson was born in Cross Hill, South Carolina on April 23, 1934 to the late William and Dessie Richard Payne.

Mrs. Johnson was an active leader in several organizations and a life-long member of St. Vaughnville Baptist Church. She was a strong advocate of the youth and the elderly, she was president of the Woman's Home Aid Society, Lodge No. 49, president of the St. Vaughnville Baptist Church Missionary, past president superintendent of St. Vaughnville Baptist Church Sunday School, and organizer of several other programs for St. Vaughnville Baptist Church. Lastly, she was the co-owner and co-operator of Dessie's Child Care in Clinton, South Carolina for more than ten years.

Lillie was the last living child of her parents' children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Jessie Mae Johnson; two brothers, Cal and John Henry Payne; and two sisters, Lillian Payne Brown and Yvenia Payne Suber.

Mrs. Lillie Payne Johnson quietly departed her earthly home on Monday, February 5, 2018, at the tender age of 83, at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, South Carolina.

She leaves to cherish fond memories a daughter, Luvenia Johnson of the home; two sons, William (Mary) Johnson of Cross Anchor, S.C. and Ricky (Albertina) Johnson of Clinton, S.C.; three grandchildren, Dessie L. Johnson of Clinton, S.C., William Brent Johnson of Cornelius, N.C., and Sabrina M. Johnson of Clinton, S..C.; two great-granddaughters, Azariah and Kaileigh Johnson of Clinton, S.C.; two goddaughters, Kelia Brown and Tiesha Curenton Watson, four sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Payne and Essie Johnson both of Clinton, S.C., Minnie Bradshaw of VA., and Rosa Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; a double first cousin and best friend, Evelyn Goggins of Greenwood, S.C., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
