Ms. Lizzie Lou Simpson was born on April 21, 1939, in Laurens County, South Carolina, to the late Charlie Simpson and Annie Lou Miller Simpson. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church in Whitmire, South Carolina.
She was educated in the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina where she was a graduate of Bell Street High School Class of 1958. She later attended Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in 1962. She then furthered her education at South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she received her Master's Degree. After completing her Master's Degree, she relocated to New York City, where she worked for several months. She then relocated to Washington, DC, where she was employed as an educator in the public school system until she retired.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents: James Miller, Charlie Simpson, Lizzie Sanders Miller, and Annie Pyles Simpson; and one brother-in-law, Bernard Davis.
On Friday, May 24, 2024, Ms. Lizzie Simpson entered into eternal rest at the age of eighty-five, at her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her sister, Delores Davis of Clinton, SC; three nieces - Sandra (Alphonso) Gills of Upper Marlboro, MD; June O’Neal of Columbia, SC; Mary Calhoun, Clinton, SC; one nephew, Charlie (Jesse) Davis, Laurens, SC, two great nieces, two great nephews, and host of cousins and friends.
