Lorenzo Darby Obituary

Mr. Lorenzo Felix Darby, affectionately called "Lo", of 162 Bar B Villa Road in Clinton, South Carolina, was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on April 13, 1963 to the Ulysses McMorris and Maggie Darby Watts.  He had a special sister who preceded him in death, Annie Mae McMorris, that helped raise him.

He attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina where he was a graduate of Clinton High School Class of 1981.  At an early age, Mr. Darby joined Bethlehem Grove Baptist Church in Clinton, South Carolina where he was a member of the Usher Board.  He later became an affiliated member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cross Hill, South Carolina where he served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Brotherhood.

Lo was employed for a few years with Clinton Mills, Charlie Adams Body Shop, and Moses Body Shop all in Clinton, South Carolina.  He later became a business owner when he opened his own body shop, Lo's Body Shop, in Cross hill, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary "Mollie" A. Darby; eight brothers, Williams Dobbins, Thomas Darby, George Darby, Clarence Darby, Jimmy Darby, Robert Darby, Michael McMorris, and Buddy McMorris; and a special nephew, Haskell McMorris.

On Friday, August 9, 2019, Mr. Lorenzo "Lo: Darby entered into eternal rest at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina at the age of fifty-six.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, three daughters, Quintina (Nick) Rice of Laurens, SC, Lakeya (Alexander) Anderson of Cross Hill, SC, Kallison  (Trandon) Graham of Greenville, SC;; three sons, Octavius (Melissa) Rice and Brandon (Nyeisha) Rice both of Simpsonville, SC, and Christopher (Shante) Rice of Tallahassee, FL; a special young lady who was dear to his heart, G'nyre "Bigmama" Prince of Cross Hill, SC;  fifteen grandchildren; five sisters, Ruby Darby, Margaret Darby, and Rosa Copeland all of Clinton, SC, Mamie Brown of Cleveland, OH, and Sara Byrd of Greer, SC;  four brothers, Manuel Darby Samuel (Sheila) Darby, and Randolph Darby all of Clinton, SC, and James (Annette) Darby of Newberry, SC; two sisters-n-law, Willie Mae Darby and Gladys Bluford;  a special cousin, Gladys Watson; a special friend, Albert Dean Gary;  a special nephew, Tyrone McMorris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
