At an early age, she joined the Fairview African Methodist Episcopal Church in Clinton, South Carolina, where she was a loyal and faithful member. To know Lucinda "Cindy" was to love her. She was affectionately called, "Aunt Cindy" by most. She was a loving and devoted mother, kind, caring and a joy to be around. She was a very unique person; a smile always graced her face and there were no strangers in her life because she made everybody she met feel special. She never refused to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
Lucinda "Cindy" leaves her legacy of love and caring to her family: three daughters, Gracie Hearst of Irmo, SC, Cora Stegall (Canyus) of Columbia, SC, and Margie Mayes of Taylors, SC; six grandchildren, Tasha Walker (Robert) of Suwanee, GA, Kare Stegall of Columbia, SC., Porterfield Mayes, Jr., of Taylors, SC, LaRon Hearst (Angela) of Jacksonville, FL; twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and a special friend of the family Shirley Henderson, who was like a daughter, and others whom she would tell, "You're one of mine too."
She didn't have any biological sons: but she indeed had sons; her nephews, cousins and family friends who did yard work, home repairs, car repairs and anything she asked of them, who will all miss her dearly.
