Mary Blakely Simpson

Ms. Mary Blakely Simpson was born on May 24, 1941, in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late Odell Blakely and Mary Sanders Blakely.

She attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina and was a graduate of Bell Street High School in Clinton, South Carolina. She furthered her education at Waverly Beauty College in Columbia, South Carolina.

After many years of employment, Mary retired from Whitten Center in Clinton, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bernard Hawthorne.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Ms. Mary Blakely Simpson departed this life at Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital in Clinton, South Carolina and entered Eternal Rest at the age of eighty-one.

Her loving memories will be cherished by her godson, Leonard Hawthorne, goddaughter, Monique Sanders, three devoted cousins: Mary Jacks, Martha Brown, and Arthur Lee (Cassandra) Philson; four caretakers: Mary Adams, Alfreda Philson, Loriss Philson, and Thomas Crawford "AKA" Bae-B; and a host of other relatives and friends.
