Maurice Odell Glenn passed away peacefully in his home on February 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. “Reese”—also known by many other nicknames, was born on July 21, 1965, to Dorothy and Eugene Glenn Sr. in Whitmire, South Carolina, Maurice’s life was marked by his passion for family, fishing, and his beloved Clemson Tigers.
A true all-around athlete, Maurice pursued his passion for sports from a young age. He excelled in baseball and basketball during his time at Benedict College and Newberry College, where he not not only showcased his athletic prowess but also forged lifelong friendships and bonds with teammates.
After his collegiate years, Maurice embarked on a successful career in the manufacturing and textile industry, dedicating 27 years of hard work and commitment to his profession. He was a member of Sims Chapel Baptist Church where he served on the men’s choir and the usher board.
Maurice found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was casting a line while fishing or passionately supporting the Clemson Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers. However, above all else, Maurice cherished moments spent with his family, reveling in their love and creating lasting memories together.
Maurice was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Glenn, his father, Eugene Glenn Sr., his brother, Thurmond Glenn, and his nephew, Brent Rice. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Glenn, his children: Marissa Rodney, Cristy Epps, Bridget Smith, Sammy Smith, and Charles Smith, along with his 10 cherished grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Eugene Glenn Jr. (Debra Glenn), LayChoyce Glenn (Nancy Glenn), and Karen Glenn, as well as a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving cousins—all of whom will continue to carry on Maurice’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live in in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
