Mrs. Melinda (Faye) Patterson-Aduku was born July 29, 1976, to Sandra Craig and Starling Manley Patterson Sr., in Columbia, South Carolina. On March 26, 2023, our sweet and loving Faye left a huge void when she departed for heaven.
She was baptized at White Plains Baptist Church. She graduated from Laurens District 55 HS in 1995. She attended Lander University where she received her Bachelors of Sociology with emphasis in Criminal Justice. She then went on to receive a Masters in Arts in Human Resources Development and Masters in Management and Leadership. Melinda's passion for working with at risk children and adults with disabilities began when she interned with Piedmont Wilderness in Clinton, S.C. She relocated to North Carolina when she became employed at The Wilderness Center. Melinda also worked for Easter Seals, Maxim, Cardinal and prior to her departure she also worked at Partner Health LLC as an Innovations Care Manager.
Melinda, was Member of Guilford County, Democratic Party/Precinct H08 Vice Chair & Delegate. Faye participated in band, was in JROTC, sang in the youth choir, and she was on the usher board.
Melinda (Faye) Patterson- Aduku leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Lucky Aduku and her daughter, Blessing Aduku both of High Point, NC; parents, Sandra Patterson of Winston Salem N.C. and Manley Paterson of Laurens, S.C. ; 2 sisters, Chicara Patterson (Brandon) of Charlotte, N.C. and Cassandra Patterson (Carlos) of Winston Salem; a brother, JR Patterson (Sherdena) of Huntersville, N.C., her niece, Caidence Smith of Winston Salem, N.C.; a brother/cousin, Zak Rice of Alexander City, AL; maternal grandparent Lizzie Craig of Laurens; 2 Godchildren Keyontae Shands and Keyonna Farrow of Clinton, S.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Alexander Craig, Maternal Grandfather, Paul Calhoun, Paternal Grandparents Marion Sr. and Marigene Patterson, Paternal Great-grandparents, Ollie and Lucille Kilgore.
