Mr. Nakia Walter Johnson was born on September 14, 1974, in Alexandria, Virginia to Ms. Hannah Mae Shands Johnson and the late Mr. Clarence Walter Johnson, Jr.
“Nook,” as he was lovingly called by some or “Walt,” as he was known by others, attended the public schools of Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia where he was a graduate of the Spotsylvania High School Class of 1992.
In 2019, Nakia relocated to Laurens, South Carolina to be closer to his mother, Uncle Bonnie, and other family members.
He was outgoing and kindhearted. He never met a stranger and always made you laugh. He had a great love and was very protective of his family and friends. Most of all, he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mrs. Jessie Mae Williams Shands and Mr. John Henry Shands, Sr., and his paternal grandparents and great grandparents.
On Thursday, June 06, 2024, Mr. Nakia Walter Johnson departed this life and entered eternal rest at the age of forty-nine.
Nakia will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hannah Mae Shands Johnson; three sons: Airon Terrell Cox, Devon Mikal Johnson, and Kendric Guthrie; two daughters: Brianna Guthrie and Marianna Johnson; eleven grandchildren: Jayden Cox, Savannah Cox, Serenity Cox, Haygen Guthrie, Riley Guthrie, Kendric Guthrie, Jr., D’Amari Guthrie, Elaina Guthrie, Kailor Almeida, Carter Mays, and Angela Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
