Reverend Robert Alonzo Taylor, Sr. was born December 26, 1953, to the late James Robert Lee Taylor and Lucindy Vanlue Taylor-Sims in Newberry County, South Carolina.
He attended the public schools of Whitmire, South Carolina where he was a graduate of the Whitmire High School.
At a very young age, he joined New Hope Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina where he set a great example for the young as a very faithful leader over the Literary Program.
He was later called into the ministry and was ordained under the New Enoree Baptist E & M Association. Since then, he has had numerous speaking engagements at several
churches in the surrounding areas and led many revivals all over as well.
Reverend Taylor had a pastor’s heart to lead, guide, comfort, and teach others; therefore, he pastored lovingly and faithfully at four churches throughout his ministry until his
health declined. They were as follows: Scurry Springs Baptist Church in Chappells, SC, Wateree Baptist Church in Mountville, SC, James Chapel Baptist Church in Carlisle, SC, and
Pleasant Rock Baptist Church in Ninety-Six, SC. He loved the Word of God, and he enjoyed spreading the Word to everyone he met.
On the morning of December 21, 2025, the Angels in Heaven prepared for a great celebration. They were dispatched to clear the pathway to Heaven for the glorious journey that
Reverend Taylor was prepared to take. The angels met him on the other side welcoming him to his new home in glory.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Reverend Lorraine D. Suber Taylor; three sons: Robert (Nija) Taylor II of Fountain Inn, SC, Joshua DeAngelo Taylor and Jeremiah
Taylor both of Kinards, SC; his daughter, Nora Hillary Jernine Taylor of Kinards, SC; his brother, James (Sherri) Taylor of Whitmire, SC; three sisters: Dorothy (Jerome) Glymph and
Lou Louden both of Newberry, SC, Barbara Jeter of Boiling Springs, SC; his grandson, Nolan Lee Taylor of Fountain Inn, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
