Rosa Mae McGowan

Mrs. Rosa Mae Rice McGowan was born on August 16, 1945, in Laurens, South Carolina, daughter of the late, Mr. John Oscar and Rosa Bell Barksdale Rice.

She attended Sanders High School in Laurens County, South Carolina.

Rosa Mae was member of Duncan Creek Baptist Church in Laurens, South Carolina.  She was employed with Wilson's Country Kitchen in Laurens, South Carolina for forty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Rice and Dorothy Rice; one brother, Henry Lee Rice; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny McGowan, Sr. and Willie McGowan.

Mrs. McGowan departed this life on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at her home.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband, Robert Lee McGowan, Sr, of the home; five sons, Robert (Lucy) McGowan, Jr., Jamie McGowan, Jason McGowan, Joshua (Alicia) McGowan, and Anthony (Tasha) McGowan all of Laurens, SC; four daughters, Sabrina Carwise, Shirley (William) McGowan, Shannon McGowan, and Stephanie (Willie) Grant all of Laurens, SC; two grandsons reared in the home, Akevius and Kemarion McGowan; two sisters, Jannie Rice of Laurens, SC and Shirley (Dean) Redmond; four brothers, John Oscar Rice, Jr., Ernest (Bertha) Rice, James Rice, and Bobby Rice all of Laurens, SC;  two sisters-in-law, Lulla (Arthur) Davis and Sarah McGowan Rice; two brothers-in-law, Izell McGowan and Dan McGowan both of Clinton, SC; orty-one grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends
