Mrs. Rose Marie Richard was born on April 12, 1951, in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late John Earl and Katherine Barksdale. She was educated in the Laurens County public school system and was a proud 1969 graduate of Sanders High School. Affectionately known as Ree", she was loved by many.
Ree accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Gray Court, South Carolina, where she served diligently in the choir and as the church clerk. She was also a form member of the Laurens County Mass Choir. She later earned an Associate Degree from Piedmont Technical College.
Professionally, Ree worked at The Shirt Plant and Kmart in Laurens before beginning her 30 year career with Walmart Distribution, where she retired from Quality Assurance Department. She also had a passion for her work as a Avon Representative, building a lasting relationship with her customers.
Rose was united in holy matrimony to her best friend, the late Earnest Richard, with whom she shared twenty beautiful year. After marriage, she joined Little River Zion Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the Deaconess Board and the Mother of the Church.
On Monday, November 17, 2025, Rose peacefully departed this life to join her Savior and her husband in heaven.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Ivey (Quentin) Spann, Victoria (Rodney) Ferguson, Patricia Gary; her brothers, John Barksdale, Michael (Mary) Barksdale; her sister, Bobbie Ann Holland. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kai' Wanda Ferguson, Alexis Gary, Vesa Valentine, Cortez Gary, twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed.
