Mr. Sammie Earl Cook, age 58 and a son of the late Woodrow Cook and Margaret H. Cook, was born on May 9, 1963 in Laurens County, South Carolina.
He attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina and was a graduate of Clinton High School. He also drove the school bus for Laurens County School District 56 for four years.
At an early age, he joined St. John Baptist Church in Cross Hill, South Carolina where he was a member of the St. John All Male Choir.
Until a decline in his health, Sammie was employed for over twenty years in the textile plant.
Those that knew Sammie knew he loved the outdoors. It didn't matter if he was hunting (which was his favorite thing to do), fishing, or cutting grass- as long as it was something outdoors. He was also a member of the Bad Boys Motorcycle Club of Newberry, South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jannie Cook; three brothers: Walter Cook, Willie Cook, and Woodruff Cook, Jr.; and four sisters: Christine Johnson, LeBannah Cook, Mary F. Latimore, and Lucy Cook.
On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Mr. Sammie Earl Cook's golden heart stopped beating, a pair of hardworking hands rested from earthly labor, and our Heavenly Father said, "Well done, son. Well done." Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ quietly came to Self Regional Medical Center of Greenwood, South Carolina and whispered, "Take my hand, Sammie, and I will give you rest."
Those who will cherish and love on his memories are his wife, Nora G. Cook of Mountville, SC; two sons: Jason (Tonya) Grant of Boiling Springs, SC and Anthony Floyd of Laurens, SC; one daughter, Tashemya Floyd of Mountville, SC; two grandchildren: Dyelon Tompkins and DeAmber Tompkins both of Greenwood, SC; five sisters: Nina (Benjamin) Longshore, Margarine Cook, Mulinda Cook, and Roberta Lewis all of Cross Hill, SC, and Sarah Dendy of Waterloo, SC; six sisters-in-law: Jessie B.
