Samuel Brownridge, Sr. Obituary

Samuel Walter Brownridge, Sr. was born February 20, 1943 in Edenton, North Carolina to the late Latis and William Brownridge.  He was affectionately known as Sam, to family and friends, Gramps to the grandchildren and Papi to great-grandchildren.  Sam was stern but loving and a hardworking man, who dedicated his life to his family.

Sam began his education in the Chowan County Public School System, after completing high school he relocated to Queens, New York where he met his beloved wife of many years.  He then enlisted himself in the United States Air Force, where he served our country.  In 1970 Sam started working for the United States Postal Service and retired after 37 years of working.  Throughout his career, Sam received praise for his work, appreciated by mail recipients.

Sam was also a loving father to his children and a devoted husband to his wife, Hattie Brownridge who passed in 2015.  Sam loved to travel to his hometown where he visited family and friends.  He was passionate for sports and outdoors and washing his car.  He also had a green thumb that was the envy of the block and there is no way that he could let you forget about his turtle that was dear to him.

Sam was truly an amazing man with great respect and integrity.  His love for his grandchildren and great grands was immeasurable.  Any and everyone knew about them and what they did to help him out.  He would always ask, the kids not coming over?

Sam was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, a great aunt.  Lloyd Wilkins, Ira Brownridge, Sr. Doris Jean Brownridge, Nellie Jane Brownridge.

On June 18, 2021 Samuel Walter Brownridge, Sr., Father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend was called home to reunite with his wife.
