Obituary

Ms. Sheryl Denise Anderson was born on April 20, 1961 to Robert Lee Robinson and Maggie Juanita Robinson in Laurens County South Carolina.

She attended Freeport Public Schools in New York until the age of 13. She moved to Laurens, South Carolina in 1974 where she attended school and graduated from Laurens District 55 High School in 1979. After high school, she tested various jobs until she found her passion as a Certified Nurses Aid. Her skills were displayed in New York and South Carolina.

On Friday February 4, 2022, Ms. Sheryl Denise Anderson entered Eternal Rest at Newberry Memorial Hospital in Newberry, South Carolina. 

One of her greatest loves was caring for her nieces and nephews as infants and toddlers. She started with her oldest nephew forty years ago and officially retired four years ago. She was adoringly known by some as “Nana” and “Auntie” or “Aunt Sheryl” by others. 

She was proceeded in death by her father Mr. Robert Lee Robinson, Maternal Grandparents, Mr. Johnny Shands, Ms. Bertha Bailey Shands; Paternal Grandmother, Catherine Elizabeth Edwards; a brother, Mr. Derrick Bernard Robinson and a nephew Lord Ra D’Meek Jacobs. 

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Donavan Amere Anderson one daughter Malik (Nikki) Anderson of Prosperity, South Carolina (where both resided at the home) who cared for her mother while battling a chronic illness; her mother Maggie Robinson of Clinton, South Carolina; a grandson Kaseem Copeland of the home; one granddaughter, Lauren Maleek Smith of the home; five brothers, Darryl Staton of Hempstead, New York, Kevin (Sonia) Robinson of Hempstead, New York, Tobey Jacobs of Laurens, South Carolina, Felix (Sabrina) Jacobs of Norcross, Georgia and Jeffrey Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Francetta Rene Shands of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dionne (Larry) Edwards of Mauldin, South Carolina; two uncles, Darnell (Sandra) Shands of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Lee Roy (Sonia) Shands of Laurens, South Carolina; one aunt Reverend Eliza (Joseph) Miller of Laurens, South Carolina; eleven nephews, Langston (Janine) Edwards of California, Taurean Bennett of Charlotte, North Carolina, Akeem (Alicia) Evans of Blythewood, South  Carolina, Larren Edwards of Mauldin, South Carolina, Malek Staton of Long Island, New York, Devron Jacobs of South Carolina, Prince Jacobs of Clinton, South Carolina, Kahleel Jacobs of South Carolina, Jahden Jacobs of Norcross, Georgia, Tavario Jacobs of Laurens, South Carolina, Nygem Jacobs of Norcross, Georgia; four nieces, Derica Robinson of Clinton, South Carolina, Lauri Edwards of Columbia, South Carolina, Danielle Robinson of Hempstead, New York, Jasmine Edwards of Greenville, South Carolina; two special great-nephews (lovingly known as her babies) Tykeem Evans and Amere Evans of Blythwood, SC; a special cousin (like a brother) Michael Funny of Columbia, South Carolina; a special friend, John Anderson and her mother in law Fannie Anderson of Laurens South Carolina. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
