Sweetie Fuller Obituary

Mrs. Sweetie Bell Fuller, 101 years old, began her life journey on September 17, 1917, in Newberry County, South Carolina.  On July 18, at 11:55 P.M., God called her from labor to reward. She was the seventh of twelve children born to Bennie and George Kindley, Sr. all who preceded her in death.  She was married to E.C. Grant who passed away.  She later married James Fuller who also preceded her in death.

Sweetie Bell was educated in the Newberry and Laurens County public schools.  At an early age, she joined Vaughnville Baptist Church where she attended as a faithful member until her health decline.  Even though she was not physically able to attend church, she was passionate about the well-being of the church and remained informed about its activities until her passing.  Sweetie Bell was a member of the Women's Aid Society No. 49.  Sweetie Bell worked as a cook and housekeeper for many years until she retired on disability in 1979.

Affectionately known to many as "Aunt Sweetie Bell," she truly lived up to her name!  She was vibrant and lived each day to the fullest.  She cared deeply about her loved ones and always had a positive attitude.  She enjoyed talking and sharing stories from the "old days," and she relished in making other people laugh.  She had several hobbies including cooking and gardening.  Even at the age of 101, she was still able to cook, and she still kept beautiful flowers that exemplified her character which was full of life.  She loved baking sweet potato pies and giving them to people on special occasions.  Most people who knew Aunt Sweetie Bell can attest to the fact that she was a very stylist dresser who loved beautiful clothes.  She always said that "a lady is not truly dressed up unless she is wearing a hat!"

Sweetie Bell will be dearly missed and always cherished, and she leaves to celebrate her life:  one son, Michael (Suzanne) Cunningham of Dallas, TX; one granddaughter, Michele Cunningham of Clinton, South Carolina; two special nieces who worked diligently to care for her, Lucy Mae Kennedy and Arcia Noel Mackey of Cross Hill,  South Carolina; a host of other nieces and nephews; one god-daughter, Camoria Leake of Greenville, South Carolina; and a host of relatives and friends.  We acknowledge her friends and neighbors at Glendale Manor and extend special thanks to Joe Goggans and Pat Simpson who went above and beyond expectations to care for her on a regular basis.
