Prophetess Tori Rodshida Henderson was born on September 25, 1976, in Greenwood County, South Carolina to Curtis and Rita Henderson of Laurens, South Carolina.
She was educated in the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina and was a graduate of the Laurens District 55 High School Class of 1994. She served on numerous clubs including the Laurens District 55 High School Marching Band where she played the Bass Clarinet and the Soprano Clarinet. She won numerous musical awards such as the South Carolina Music Educators award for excellent ratings four years in a row, the Citation of Merit award for Symphonic Band participation two years in a row, the Musicianship Award, the Outstanding Senior Region Band Award, as well as Lettering Band.
Tori also attended Presbyterian College's Preparatory Music Program beginning at the age of four. She was very devoted to her piano participation from which she won many awards including the American College of Musician, USA, six gold pins and twelve silver pins for outstanding guild Competition and Clinton Music Honors recital and semester participation. She was a State Member of the National Piano Playing Audition for sixteen years. She also won many competitions during her participation in Presbyterian College's music program earing the National Guild of Piano Teachers High School Diploma in Social Music.
Upon finishing high school, she attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. While there, she served on many clubs and organizations such as the Student Government Association as the Secretary, the Apollo Talent Committee, and the Habitat for Humanity student club. Tori graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1999 earning a double major: Bachelor of Arts in Music and Computer Science, Cum Laude and a Master of Arts Degree in Pedagogy, Suma Cum Laude.
She was inducted into the American Scholars National Honors Society in which she was awarded the Benjamin Franklin Award, the Thomas Jefferson Award, and the Alexander Bell Scholarship Award. Those scholarships prompted her to start her PHD dissertation in music education. Tori opened her own Music Studio in 1999 called "The Talented Ones." She taught students of all ages the theory and approaches to classical and contemporary music. One of her students was judged by judges from the Julliard School of Music on music performance and was scored and rated as the very first child prodigy in the state of South Carolina. Several of her students won scholarships to the Julliard School of Music.
Tori was a member of the Bible Way Church on Atlas Road in Columbia, South Carolina where she served on the Women's Ministry, Armor Bearer, a member of the Church Choir, and many other committee assignments. She was an Ordained Prophetess for sixteen years and was committed to serving the Lord.
She was employed with the Federal Government as a Forensic and Fraud Analyst for many years until her untimely death. She was also a member of the American College of Musicians, the American Scholars Honor Society, the National Guild Association and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She loved teaching and playing the piano, studying and spreading the Word of God, and Mom and Daughter shopping Day.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Medical University of South Carolina Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, Ms. Tori Rodshida Henderson departed this life and entered into Eternal Rest at the age of forty-five.
Left to cherish her sweet memories, in addition to her parents, are seven aunts: Louise Hunter, Nettie Taylor, Ruby (Bill) Velasco all of Clinton, SC, Anita (Heng) Thong of Columbia, SC, Cynthia Adams, Geraldine Taylor of Charlotte, NC, and Norma Moses of Mt. Vernon, New York; one great aunt, Gladys Simpson of Mountville, SC; four uncles: Willie (Fannie) Henderson Jr. and George (Yvonne) Henderson both of Laurens SC, Charlie (Kay) Taylor of Charlotte, NC, Robert Taylor of Columbia, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
