William Johnson

Mr. William Johnson was born on June 1, 1933 in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late Eugene Johnson, Sr., and Willie Mae Leake.

He attended the public schools of Laurens County, South Carolina and was a graduate of the Sanders High School Class of 1948.

William served in the United States Air Force where he receive many awards ad honors.  After over twenty years of service, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant E-8.  After over twenty years of employment, he also retired from TEL Corporation in New York as an Installation and Maintenance Manager.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers:  Frank Lee Dean Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Jr., and Thomas Johnson; three sisters:  Lucy Rhodes, Rachel Shumpert, and Frances Hunter.

Mr. William Johnson transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, March 26, 2021 at his home at the age of eighty-seven.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories three sisters:   Sarah J. Edwards and Clara J. Byrd both of Knoxville, TN, and Beatrice Sturgill of Hartwell, GA; two brothers:  Richard (Lavern) Johnson and Willie J. (Alfreda) Johnson both of Knoxville, TN; a devoted niece, Glenda Johnson; a loving and devoted companion, Sarah Sullivan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
