Mrs. Zena A. Wilson was born April 10, 1916 in Laurens County. She is the daughter of the late Will and Lucia Adams and the widow of the late Leonard Casey Wilson.
Zena was the eldest member and Mother of New Hope AME Church in Mountville, South Carolina. She was a member of "The Zena A. Wilson Missionary Society" and the 7th District Torchlighter. She was also an active member of several other organizations, including, The National Council of Negro Women of Laurens County, Morning Glory Chapter No. 191 OES, Laurens Women Aid Society, and Newberry Women Aid Society.
On Thursday, June 7, 2018, Mrs. Wilson entered into Eternal Rest.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Leonard L. Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson is the mother of three children, Benzena W. Wicker, Samuel Lewis (Carolyn) Wilson, Leonard L. (Mary) Wilson; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Reverend Elizabeth A. McMorris; one sister-in-law, Reverend Lillie Adams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Her favorite song was "Hold My Hand, While I Run This Race."
